Grey Wolves Mod Freeware?
I have uninstalled SH3, reinstalled, patched to 1.4b and I thought I was ready to download the GW Mod. I go to the site, click on download and get directed to another site which is asking for a donation.
Is the Grey Wolf Mod Free or Not? Yes, I can donate! However, I have read nothing that says a donation is required for the download. So do I have to pay for the mod or not? If it is required the site should state "donation required to get the Grey Wolves Mod". In which case it is not freeware. And no I am not new to these forums, I have been away for a long period of time and had to re register in order to post. |
Itīs free. The only reason why you canīt download it from Subsim is because Subsim has reached its bandwidth limit. You can still download it from other sites, check this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=94544 Download it from Fileplanet or Rapidshare, the version thatīs on Filefront is not the latest version. |
Welcome back
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=94544 Check out this thread for other download locations. The donation request you recieved enables you to receive GW on disc(IIRC) because the monthly bandwidth had been reached. Hope this helps Damn - Gizzmoe beat me to it |

The version which I just downloaded was the one on Filefront - RS was just too slow for me... :( :damn: Is there an update that I could download to bring it up to v 1.1a, instead of having to re-d/l a 600+MB file? *crosses fingers & hopes for an affirmative answer* |
There are separate downloads to bring GW 1.0 upto GW1.1a. IIRC there was an bearing overlay fix. You might be able to find the separate download.
edit, found it. Check here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...verlay+missing If not... Check here, BBW offered an ftp download...might be faster http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...t=97303&page=8 The username & password are on the top of page 9. |

Mods in the SH3 community are by a rule, generally speaking, freeware. Your free to use them and share them however you like, however i think 99% of all modders would frown upon their work being used for commercial purposes. Your also generally free to use other's work as a basis for a new work of your own, but its considered good form to ask the orginal author first, or at the very least list what the orginal work was and it's author, in an attached readme file.

We cannot accept such things though. We do what we do out of a sense of responsibility to GW users and Sub-simmers... and because we enjoy working together and remaining independant. We take a great deal of pride in what we do... and why we do it. Besides, if you are in our boat... money is always horribly tight. :ping: |

I have neglected to log into this forum after I installed the "Grey Wolves Mod". Yes I did get it loaded, up and running. Great job to all the folks who made The Grey Wolves happen. And many thanks for all the information to the questions I needed answered. Nothing like a forum community when one is in need of help.
The game is much better than before the mod. I have just gotten to deep water on my first patrol with the GW mod. Yeah, I'm slow, but I have also been playing Battleground Europe. (WW2 on line.) So not much time for sea duty. Thanks again. |
