Idea for a new Sticky: Community Manual Additions
Hello all,
I have come to the realization that there is an absolute wealth of information in this forum. The problem is that so much of it is contained within the confines of unrelated threads. For example, I have learned how to modify my deck/AAA gun loadouts, modify the fanfare music, and where to find a program to modify my binoculars from 8x to 10x, how to modify key settings - all very useful information, but all of it tucked away in various threads. My success rate with forum searches can charitably be described as moderate. Here's my idea: The moderators create a "Community Manual Additions" sticky (any name will do), the purpose of which is to post resource information for inclusion in the Community Manual (exercising my penchant for stating the obvious :88) ). Only informational posts should be allowed - all others should be deleted - in order to make the thread very simple. Once items are added to the Community Manual, they can be deleted from the sticky to keep it clean and well organized. This is assuming that the Community Manual is open for such modification. If it isn't, perhaps we could organize our own resource manual. What are your thoughts on this? |
Wow... Not a single reply! I find this mildly amusing, as I when I posted this, I was convinced that I had a winner of an idea: Put all the tweaks, modifications, and resources into one place. The Subsim community would share its knowledge to the potential benefit of everyone.
I must have missed something... Perhaps this idea was considered redundant to the other stickies. Oh well. Thanks to the 30 or so folks who stopped to take a look. |
Sort of like this....http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...itle=Main_Page
So as you can see there really is no point for one on the forum. |

Some of the charm is searching the forums....you never know what you'll discover...:yep:

I'll admit - I'm a big fan of organized knowledge. Given the lack of interest in this idea, I'll see what I can accomplish on my own. :know: |
