Gibralter......
Well....after being assigned a patrol area very near Gibralter...I decided to sail into port and see what was what.....Plenty of targets moored to the docks ....I put three fish into a South hampton and Dido light cruiser... both....neither sunk....hardly even listed as I limped out of there.....I did manage to sink a large and medium cargo ship so it wasnt a total loss....but no where near worth the risk we took getting in there...they managed to bang me up a bit on the exit....lost both the attack and observation periscopes...and the flak gun as well.....had a hell of a time getting a leak under control in the forward torpedo bay....couldnt hold the boat trimmed without flank speed.....but I managed to sneak away....and on the way out was harrassed by what seemed like an unending supply of PT boats.....anyway....I think I will pass on the next opportunity to pay them a visit....too damned risky.....my ninth patrol almost turned out to be my last...

I went in to gibraltar with my U-9.
Easy job, but you really musnt get detected in those shallow waters I sunk the dido and the Southampton. went out of the harbour and in the canal...I got an Air short...so I was forced to surface...that got my detected for an moment but I managed to stay as long enough to fill up the air supply and Dived again...and sneaked away.... I just finished an long patrol...went to New York with the U-9. I managed to reach the milkcow near StJohn. to refill for my way back to port. Sunk: 1x Fishing boat ( out of boredom) 1x Big Tanker 1x British Passenger liner going into the Harbour of new york (see image) http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/4...shlinervn6.jpg And I managed to take an peek into the harbour damaged the liner in front of the statue of liberty , but I ran out of torpedos |
This is my one complaint with the NYGM damage model. When a ship is listing that much and has that much keel below the waterline, it should fill up eventually and go to the bottom. I hear that the next NYGM will fix this.
