I've rented Das Boot (2 DVDs) and am just about to slip one into the DVD player and watch it. Pass the popcorn... :smug:

I should buy it again, the copy I have is a dual sided DVD and it's darn near impossible to keep it unsmudgy. :)

Remember to turn up the volume when you hear "It's a long way to Tiperary" and sing along!!:yep::yep:

Put out the lights, cool the room down to 60 degrees F, and put on your wool sweater, and enjoy the DC scenes!

Yep-watching it in German with subtitles is the best way!

Never watched it my self yet. always been into military history (former land warrior) but just this last year started getting interested in the naval side (partly due to sh3). plan on seeing it soon. recently seen the "director's cut" on sale---is that the long or short one?
From all the talk on this forum i assume it is the be all end all. only wwII sub movie i've seen is an old one but can't remember the name (has robert mitchum in it and the destroyer rams the german sub in the end and sits on top of it:rotfl: ) still, i like those old style movies--obviously Das Boot is more realistic?
