FFG Towed array problem (bug?)
I’ve looked around and haven’t seen anyone else post about this problem. Sometimes when I switch to the FFG towed array screen I see the broadband display is “washed out”. It isn’t the same washed out look as when the array is being dragged on the ocean floor or due to high speed. It just looks like there is one very large contact that covers the entire broadband display. Once I have switched to the towed array screen the latest data that gets displayed is correct. But I have lost all history information and must wait minutes to get good ITA or LTA data. Is this a bug or am I doing something that causes this?
Another problem is sometimes when I look at the narrow band display (beam overview) I can see a contact on a certain beam. Then I double click on a beam but it shows no waterfall data. I have to wait several seconds as new waterfall data scrolls down the screen. I would think the waterfall data should still be there. This isn’t as bad as the first issue, but it is frustrating. |
With regards to the first problem, could it be caused by being in a high signal to noise ratio area? If you look at the nav map and push shift-i, it will show only signal to noise ratio data, with the lighter colors meaning higher SNR.

I don't think so. The weird thing is I can be in the towed array screen looking at contacts, switch to the sonobouy screen and do some stuff there, then switch back and I see this weird noise. I will try to take a screen shot and post it.

I have a screenshot, but it looks like I can't post it directly to the forum. Anybody have any suggestions on how to post pictures?

Go to imageshack and upload there ,then just put link here...

Here is a screenshot of the "glitch" you can see a small band of "brighter" noise. But the noise ends immediatly after switching to the towed array screen. Has anyone else seen this problem?
EDIT: Sorry for the huge file. I have replaced it with a JPG. http://shadowmind.org/stuff/ffg_towed_prob.jpg http://shadowmind.org/stuff/ffg_towed_prog.jpg |
