No T-3 FaT-2 circle search pattern?

I have a question regarding the T-3 FaT-2 torpedo. Namely, this type's description says it would go in a circle pattern after a straight run of a certain length. But then in the game it doesn't. It just runs the same pattern as the other FaTs.
So is there a way to set it to circle or is this one of the many things the game got wrong (again...)?

Edit: Damn, I got the name of the torpedo wrong. Of Course I mean the T-3 FaT-2. But now the threadtitle is set...
