Star Force

I havn't been here in a long time.I already own SH III bought it at release. I've bought a new PC and don't want :damn: Starforce on this machine. Are there any plans of rereleasing SH III without :damn: Starforce? If it is already available where might I purchase it?

I dont think ya can buy SH3 without the SF protection.

Wasn't the version you can buy on the internet without SF?

Found with a quick google search : http://www.direct2drive.com/193/prod...r-III-Download

I read somewhere that you can only install the game a limited number of times, but the 'About' page doesn't mention anything about that. Anyway, I'm sure someone can elaborate :).

Starforce

D2D has a form of starfarce on it. You can reinstall the D2D version as many times as you need, but it requires you to contact them for a new serial number after one or two times.

I hear you. I suspect SF ultimately led to the death of my last computer. The hard drive died by degrees and many of the symptoms were ones reportedly caused by SF.

So to answer your original question- Yes, there is a way to play SH3 w/o StarForce, but that moves into the Pirate realm which will get this thread modded and all of us sent to the Principal's office.

I suggest you go to Naval Warfare forum over at SIMHQ and carefully read all the posts about SH3...

There really isn't a way to install the game with no SF.Even the D2D has SF in it.You can use the ..."Argh maties!:arrgh!: " solution. It wouild've been nice if the devs would release a patch that removed SF.

Thanks Guys for the quick answers. I'll have to wait for SH IV then on this machine. I'm so glad Ubisoft is now steering clear of this in the future. If they ever release SH III without Starforce I hope subsim informs the community about it. I'll be sure to buy it to show support.

PS Thanks subsim for the heads up on SH IV

In my case, my DVD Writer wrote all DVDs with errors, it was off when Starforce was removed, too clear, and finally it die some days later.
Plus i suffered a suspicious "die" of my Hard Drive.... i cant asign this last to Starforce, but they are the first computer elements i loss in my "computer history", ...and it is soo suspicious.

You dont need to feel bad or pirate to use the Starforce remover. You buyed the original game and support the Dev team, you done the right.

Then you can feel free to use the Starforce deactivation files and Starforce remover programs with no bad feelings.

Nah, you should know by now that I enjoy SF threads tremendously, even though we already had more than 2500 of them in the last 12 months!
