-The position of an ammo, a fuel tank, etc. is the same as flower class.
-Armaments and equipment are not Japanese Navy. They are the armaments currently prepared beforehand.

Nice one could be used very well in Penang as a guard ship for the secret Harbour....

Sailor Steve 08-24-06 05:52 PM

Nice, but I don't think 'No. 13' is part of the type name. I'm under the impression that they all had individual numbers, rather than names. If I'm right, it should just be 'Japanese Sub Chaser'.

I also believe that these were the same ships the Japanese themselves called 'Kaibokan', and came in two classes, called simply 'A' and 'B'.

I am somewhat vague on that, though. I don't have any of my books close enough to look at.

I always thought that the two classes of Kaibokans were C and D.

BTW - Great ship, have already downloaded it.

There is a Secret Uboot harbour in Penang for the refuelling of the Monsun Long Range Boats which operated in Indian and Pacific Ocean . Only Type IX d2 can reach that. That was the place where Japan and Germany exchanged informations and other things during the war. This Harbour was historicaly guarded by the japanese and was a very secret base during WWII.

There was Japanese Sub-Chaser from No.1 to 63.
There were 4 kinds of standard models of a ship in it.(No.1, No.3, No.4, No.13)
The number of 4 kind is a name ship, respectively.
The model of this MODS is No.13 mass-produced most.
Since I am poor at English, my naming may be inaccurate.
What kind of name is suitable? "sub-chaser type No.13", "No.13 class sub-chaser", or other names.

Incidentally, when "Kaiboukan (Escort)" is roughly divided, they is 4 classes.
It is D from Type A.
A class is divided into "Shimusyu" and the "Etorofu" class.
B class is divided into the "Mikura", "Ukuru", and "Niburi" class.

Now, "Kaiboukan" of C class is under manufacture.:D

Yes. Although it's in the wrong place (by a little way) and don't expect much action there (at least until GWX).

It might be best to include the class name instead of a specific name of a ship. Thus, for example, if you included a Shimusyu class subchaser you could name it "Shimusyu Subchaser" instead of "Subchaser #..."

I've been to Penang just out for the hell of it,It took ages to get there and I found not a lot to shoot at. The only intresting stuff I found was around Aden a few ships and a constant barage of Aircraft.

Got it. When I was reading the convoy records they just included a number: "Subchaser No. 56", for example. I wasn't clear on the class distinctions.

Thanks for clearing that up.

jimmie 08-25-06 11:08 AM

Then perhaps using "type" instead of "No." as in "Subchaser Type 13" might sound natural?

Jmack 08-26-06 11:53 AM

i assume it must be one of these ... right ??
