Sadistic Destroyer!

I must rant about this evil destroyer captain. I was spotted by the evil C class DD as i got cocky and didnt submerge thinking i cud sneak get past him :P Sadly he saw me and Depth Charged to me hell and back, i knew all was lost when my batteries where hit and i had no battery power left. I decided to blow ballasts and surrender (i use SHCommander) when i reached the surface a hail of machine guns rounds and shells killed most of my crew inclduing all but one of my officers and destroyed many compartments as i expected, but the evil captain then decided to turn around and leave me, now i have to try and get home with destroyed engined and no where near enough fuel, cant even radio in for assistance! The sick captain leaving my surving men to die slowly! Plane rude if you ask me!

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i93/donlas/sub.jpg To top it off im using the NYGM Compatible longer repair times mod, this is how my sub looks after 35 mins of repairing. Must say been a fun time, just thought id share :P

wow he sure got ya there. Did you ever make it back to port?

Immelman 08-18-06 01:22 PM

Hmm... He left you there... Must have run out of ammo :rotfl: Hope you make it back to base! If you do reload your stores and ammo and go sink every Class C you encounter :arrgh!:

With such little fuel and the batteries destroyed, U-553 tried to make it to the neutrel port of Cork, with just 66KM left on the journey, the fuel reserves ran out. The last surviving officer decided to scuttle the U-boat and swim to the close Irish shore with the other 20 survivers and surrender. <Salute>

So close yet so far :P

here is a tip, dont use .bmp convert them to jpg open bmp with paint and resave as a jpg. Photobucket auto resizes imgs if they are past a certain size.

how did you run out of fuel? I hope you didnt make for shore at all ahead full?:damn:

donlas 08-18-06 07:30 PM

Cheers spax, i always forget to convert things to JPG :s

And no i didnt rush at full speed, 3knts and it still didnt get me there in time :P i was allready low on fuel as i spent most of what i needed for my return joruney chasing a Passenger liner wich i never cuaght :damn: Learnt my lesson not to rely on submerging :P

Indeed one must always stay on top of one's fuel reserves. In the future I hope you'll always remember to leave plenty of head room for returning home. Also chasing a passenger liner is futile. It's speed far outstrips yours.

Lesson learned I hope. You're lucky. Most kaleuns didn't get that chance. They were dead.

I recall when I first got sh3 and just about to finish my first career (9/05/45) when I took out a convoy and a couple of Sunderlands came out of nowhere and took out my engines and dive planes I couldn't dive and couldn't move on the surface. all I could do is hit the esc button.

fuel usage and speed

wow what a nightmare,, glad you woke up.. btw, I have similar nightmares and in mine when I am low on fuel, when I adjust to increase my range by lowering my speed (say to 2 or 1 kts) and check with the NO I get a really small number....then when I raise my speed to say ahead standard(10-15 kts), the range increases dramatically when I check with my NO.....it is terrifying and seems backwards...did you notice this effect in your nightmare? maybe it has something to do with how the engine creates more fumes to go off of when at higher speeds?? only thing I can think of.

spork542 08-19-06 04:38 PM

The most efficient U-boat speed as far as I can tell is 9 knots. While 1 or 2 knots may keep your fuel around for the longest time, it won't get you far just because it's that slow. 9 knots will use fuel much more quickly, but will get you the furthest.

Marriott 08-19-06 04:55 PM

i agree with spork, ive had the best experience with around 9 knots or so
