OK, here's the plan: First, we raise $500 million,

...then, we jointly buy one of these and launch Subsim SSK#1.

We may need an additional $20 mill to get our crew trained by the builders, convert the torpedo room to a lounge with networked PCs, and stock the boat with Springsteen Cds. I'll check the sofa and car for change.

This sub is just the right size for a Subsim crew of 30, and it comes in black, my favorite color. We're good to go.

We can borrow the money from Bill Gates.

Sea Demon 08-12-06 08:03 PM

Neal, have you figured out how much money each of us would have to cough up? I'll ask my wife if I can participate.

Sea Demon 08-12-06 08:03 PM

She said no. :nope:

Actual time elapsed between asking and getting an answer: zero :rotfl:

I'll PM you when my line of credit gets up into the millions, Neal. Collectors won't be able to find me on an SSK I suppose.

Ok, while we work on raising the money, we may as well start discussing the officers and crew. Who here has the most naval experience, and achieved the highest ranking in a real submarine?

My guess would be Bill. There used to be a guy who said he commanded an RN boat that frequented the SC forums, but he's not around anymore. I've taken a few sailing classes, so hopefully that gets me a spot. ;)

My closest real submarine experiences were when I capsized with sail boats

Yahoshua 08-13-06 02:46 AM

Do glass-bottom boat tours count?

TteFAboB 08-13-06 07:14 AM

Can I sit next to the window? Can I? Can I?

I hold the highest educational credentials. Back in the day, that would make me new aristocracy. Therefore, by age of sail standards, I should be captian. I'll go practice my 'hand on coat with look of importance' pose for when we get the boat. I'd better get a tricorner hat too.

McBeck 08-13-06 08:31 AM

Well since im the only one here who has actully handled a sub I should be the skipper :smug:
