@Kiwi:
It looks like it's from the U-505 site at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, Ill....they have a niffty little scenario views where you can act as the skipper. |
Is that from the movie, where they are crashdiving, yet the gauge shows that they are on surface. I think it was somekind of propaganda vid of the Kriegsmarine.
Cool pic, tho! :rock: |
Way to ruin it Dowly!:damn:

Not Propaganda
No, not from a Propaganda Film. It is from the personal photo album of Funkmaat George Seitz U-604.
There are more at this link: http://www.uboatarchive.net Go to Individual U-Boats and then click on U-604. The site has lots of cool photos and info. |
So could it just be the beginning of a crash dive maybe? I mean as fast as a crash dive is it does still start on the surface.:yep: So maybe they are crash diving after an airplane flies overhead and a near depth charge has rocked the boat to one side or something...
That BS it enough to make it real again?:|\\ |
Yeah its the 1940's version of Star Trek when they take damage, camera shakes, Spock has to hang on to his viewer thing, Capt. Kirk gets thrown into a railing, Lt. Aurura get thrown out of her chair...:roll:
|
HAHAHA! YES! The director says "Okay Otto I want you and the crew to fall to each side together okay? The Romulans... I mean the uhhhh... yes the Brits are attacking your gallant crew and ship."
Now the doctor comes in: "DAMMIT Otto, I'm a doctor not an engineer! Fix your own bilge pumps!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: |
LOL!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
|
To the left of the picture, partly obscured by the periscope, the depth gauge shows they are definitely NOT on the surface. The forward dive plane gauge shows full down, while the aft gauge is centered. Not all that unusual, and they are certainly diving.

There are also some great Interrogation reports of U-Boat Crews who describe details of their Boat and Crews. In the report for U-521 the only survivor was the Captain. Could you imagine that? You survive, but your entire crew perishes?. What a Guilt Trip! |
