I guess he has now apologized for the 'despicable' things he said. Lay off the sauce Mel. Leave the goofy outbursts to Tom Cruise.

This is why I don't go to the movies anymore. Mel Gibson has been playing the good Catholic for some time now, saying that he has reformed and turned against his old, drunken ways. Perhaps not so, and this tends to shape popular American opinion against anyone holding to such a faith, not because the type of faith is conceived as facetious, but rather because, generally speaking, the public is incredibly stupid.
It could be that a federal regulation barring Hollywood celebrities from discussing their faith could alleviate this. Of course, a law barring celebrities from discussing any matter what-so-ever would certainly be a superior idea. Only this may end up protecting the public from themselves. |

The guy fell off the wagon, in a spectacular way, but it happens. He went a step further and broke the law and made an @ss of himself, but that happens too. To everyone, whether a celebrity or not. The only thing "special" about this is that because of his celebrity it is considered news. |

Agreed. Anybody care to throw this thread off topic? |

I'm sure like every fallen celebrity once he makes the obligatory pilgrimage to the Holy church of Oprah and does a tearful contrite confession onstage he will be forgiven. ;)

As to celebrities having opinions, I say why not, everyone else has one and I can separate the actor's opinions on an issue from my valuation of his acting ability. Then there is the fact that some of these guys lend their "opinions" and efforts and names, and even money, to good causes, like charities, that benefit tremendously from the actor's support. |
At least his religion lets and expects him to fall off the bandwagon so that he can go back and try again. Try that with some other religions and you might get stoned!

Want some beef? :hmm:

Mel shouldn't have been in the car doing 90mph in a 45. It just makes things so much worse that he was lit when he was doing it.
However, I'll say this. How many other "celebrities" have come right the hell out and said they were in the wrong, they're sorry for cussing the cops, and it was their bad? Mel has courage, and it's uncommon courage in this day and age. |
Mel is a farkin wa*ker! I mean his life is farked, yeah right hes got millions, he'll pay his way out, and hes upset over a drunk driving incident? Big deal. Funny tho he rambles on about the Jews what an idiot, was that just drunk talk or did he really mean what he said...
