Help on learning

Hi,

I come from SH3, still enjoying it, but DW is also a very nice and complicated game/sim.

Are there training missions WITH a good readme of manual, that for example give one step by step instructions on how to for example locate a target en put a torpedo in it?

I mean, its all a bit daunting to me..

Already found at subguru a lot of tutorials, but they assume too much. Even Landlubber gives a wealth on theoretics.

Doing it yourself step by step if often a quicker learning method then dry manauls.

Dis you check all the custom scenarios on SUBGURU?
There a couple of training missions, i think by sub-driver that include targets that wont return fire.

But the best thing to do, assuming you read all the material and understood the theory and the different interfaces, is checking in with your friendly local mission editor, and just create very simple missions.

Add one target at a time, make it surface or sub, give it a pre defined way-points and search and follow it, getting used to how it showes on the different sensors screens.
Change the target movement to random box, and train yourself in TMA, changing to "show truth" to see how well you are doing.

Change the target tactics, giving it the ability to track and shoot at you, try some quick missions (which are not that simple, because things are happening a bit too fast there).

Keep "raising the bar" and start trying some real missions.

Like SH3 in full manual (and much more i think) this game requires much of training, and of course - a lot of time to get used to.

Good luck.

Here you can find step by step instructions for the demo Kilo-mission. But it is all in German language... Don't know if this is good or bad for you.

A good tip is the 'We dive at dawn' scenario. Just try to do what you are told.
Can be found at subguru.

Learning

I suggest you setup some really simple missions with the mission editor andload it in your favor. This will help learn detection, approach, and firing.
I have some ASW and ASUW training mission posted on SubGru site, not happy with the ASUW as the Helos are aggressive, but they will provide you with training.
Welcome to DW and give SCXIIc a try.

Hang in there, it will all come together,

There are some tutorials for the two demo missions over at the SCS Boards and of course the CADC. Try going through them (the demo missions are in the Full version too). That should give you a basic idea and from then try some of the advice from the posts above this one.

Cheers
