Historic Question
Just a quick question, were Hospital ships lagit targets? i remember our woodwork teacher at school telling us during the war he was a male nurse on a hospital ship off Malta when they were dive bombed by Stukas, and i wondered when this order came into force, any clues?

The Geneva Convention allows for all shipping painted white and displayin the red cross are not to be attacked.

Thanks waste gate, i knew when i was in the air force it was strickly forbidden but i didn't realise it was like that in WW2, but i will remember this if i encounter a hospital ship while on patrol:up:

Not only was it forbidden but in the game if you sink one you lose 10,000 renown points.
|
Yes sinking a ship full of wounded men heading home is not very friendly. At least that's one thing that the devs modelled right.

Not seen a Hospital ship yet |
I hate it when I come across one at night as it is impossible to ID them unless you get very close, like right along side. I have thought it was a regular troopship only to see (after I shot out the search lights) it had the crosses on it.
I have never sunk one but have shot up a few by mistake. I love this aspect of wonder at night, very cool. Historically hospital ships were attacked by both sides although in nearly every case by mistake as not knowing it was a hospital ship. Wulfmann |
