Information request: Land To Sea laser guided missiles.

An Israeli ship (SAHAR 5) was hit last night by some kind of missile, apparently while being 16 Km away from shore.
Reports say the weapon was laser guided, and has been an Iranian missile (which probably means - Russian or Korean missile).

Can any one guess what type it was?

Well, since 16km is too much for laser guiding from shore, i think. I searched the net a bit and came up with some chinese radar homing missiles.
From later reports it seems i was right with my guess.
There is a great chance it has been a C802.

This monster is too difficult to intercept.

We need Ship-Mounted Anti-Missile Laser Weapons urgently, then it becomes a battle between who has the bigger laser, and the bigger laser will only be found in nuclear-powered ships, and terrorists or rogue nations don't have nuclear powered ships.

Yup. It would have to be radar guided at that range.

They also nailed a merchant boat, and I wonder if it was poor targeting by the fire crew, or if the missile had to use it's onboard computer to choose a target when the fire control radar when blank in mid-flight. I'm guessing these missiles don't develop a composite image like our Harpoons do, so it would be either the closest bearing target or just some kind of monkey choice (eeny-mennie-miny-moe).

Iran and Syria have probably been funneling them all kinds of goodies for the past decade, so I think Israel is strategically correct to shut down transportation routes at the start. They need to start dropping cell-phone towers, too. Just send in a HARM and call it a good choice.

It wasn't a missile. Newest reports show it being a radio controlled drone laden with explosives. Crude but effective.

The russians love lasers, there was an incident where a U.S Naval rating tried to sue because he thought a russian spy ship pointed lasers on the ship, i dont know much more about this but i do know the KGB is responcible for making alot of american embassy staff ill in moscow due to lasers.
