I loved 688i, will I like DW?
 
I still play 688i once in a while. I see that DW has the same interface as 688i. Other than the extra playable units,, Is playing the 688i sub in DW the same as the original game or better?

If better, then how so? (besides the extra playable units)

Its absolutley better, more accurate physics and sonar modelling, the possibility of using multistation in multiplayer scenarios.
The ability to go against other subs/air platforms/frigates whereas in the old 688i you could only fight against other 688i :rotfl:(talk about variety here).

Last but not least, the amazing LWAMI mod which greatly enhances the database and doctrine files to give even more realistic setting on torpedos/ weapons in general/ etc...

Its worth going from 688i to DW.
Apart from a nostalgic sense, DW is superior to 688i in all aspects.

I must admitt that DW seems to be the more upto date playble subsimulation.Although
my heart still follows the 688 I Hunter Killer, cause I loved the game probably as much as you do, you will love DW as well. But you will also find it more difficult to get used to because of all game features it has to offer, it certainly takes more time in the "learnig curve"..:smug: Once you are through all this, it is the most realistic and interesting subsim on the market.;)
In comparison I find the training missions in 688 I Hunter Killer much better organised and easier to play then the short training encounters in DW. Also I have the feeling
that sometimes when in the process of identifying unknown contacts in DW e.g., I gained the experience when variefying an "Oil Tanker for instance", visualley through peris, the next moment it went away very fast from one point to the other within minutes, this seemed unrealistic to me, or it was a bug in the game which hadn`t been reported. Anyway, such things never happend to me in the 688 I Hunter.
The training mission where easy to master if you follow strictly the instructions.
Following the instructions in DW doesn`t make sure you`re scoring well. Cause things can get wrong anyway. For instance I was travelling at low speed in shallow water, and checking through the High Frequency Actice Sonar ( HFAS) in order to avoid collision with ships etc. one minute there was nothing there, and all over sudden I crashed into an object I didn`t see on the HFAS before.
So I had to start the whole mission again.
But in the actual gameplay it is better then in the training missions.

You probably are probably confusing the autocrew TMA positioning with the actual positioning in game.

Unless you are using show-truth, the nav map DOES NOT SHOW THE ACTUAL LOCATION of objects, but rather the input from your sensors and work in developing a solution.

So when you raise the periscope, and the target is not exactly where you thought it was, this to be expected.

I've never seen objects in DW warp (except for multi-player lag situations of course).

David, I must apologize you`re right cause I was wrong in my statement concerning the situation of the oil Tanker, sorry about that I hope I didnīt confuse more people.:roll:
