Accompany a truck loaded with half the TNT available to mankind, in a little car?

How clever, hopefully his partners have the same foresight.

Good freakin riddance. Funny, in the 90's I actually had a little sympathy for Chechen independance...in the last decade (even befor 9 /11) I have changed my mind...I hope Russia crushes the Chechen rebels with little mercy. Beslan was one of the most horrendous acts ever commited (and there have been a lot of them in the last 20 years...)

Well, there's something like 1.2 billion muslims on this world.

I figure there's 60 million active and reserve combatant jihadists, about 100 million direct "enablers" that funnel money and weapons, another 100m that indirectly enable through propaganda and "public relations" (including lawyers and politicians in democratic nations). Then there's an active resource support segment that probably runs around 300 million, with a sheep population segment that comprises 500 million. This leaves a little over 100 million that live in "liberal" societies and appreciate the freedoms they have. Freedom like being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt and go for a walk around the block. If I wanted to lay blame, I'd blame Henry Ford. But that's long said and done, so I'm mostly interested in today and tomorrow.

As for Father Russia, Putin has outright declared that he is "against whatever America is for". I guess it's the old power struggle thing, again. We're against Iran and North Korea, so he's running clandestine arms deals with them. I'm kind of happy that Chechnya hasn't fallen to the jihadists just yet, but it's tempered with modern day Russia's goals. Same way I look back at Afghanistan and the mid-1980's -- a pragmatic dilemma, not to even mention morality or politics.

And only a handful of them are Chechen freedom fighters.

Good riddance, I rather doubt that will do any good in the long run though. :-?

Tycho, what did ol Henry do? Was he a jihadist before his time in secret?
