Hey that's not fair to the goat.

Goat stripped of rank

The regimental goat with the 1st Battalion Royal Welch has been stripped of its rank after trying to spear a drummer's rear during a parade to mark the Queen's birthday.

Honorary Lance Corporal William Windsor refused to march and stay in line during the parade at the Episkopi garrison, in Cyprus. The six-year-old really disgraced himself by trying to headbutt a group of military drummers and threatening to spear their rears with his horns. Now the Persian goat, also known as Billy, has been demoted and has lost the traditional perks of his rank such as being saluted. Billy was originally presented to the battalion by the Queen from a royal herd which grazes on hills outside Llandudno, north Wales.

The irony of the issue is not lost on me, Sir. :shifty:

I find this whole thing as just plain silly....it's an animal. Goats don't obey you like a dog does. They have very strong personalities.

There is absolutely no way i would ever salute a goat. I'm darn glad the American Army doesn't do such silly things.

Yes. We have different ways of doing silly things here.

I have nothing against mascots. It's the saluting thing that blows my mind.

My first posting the company had a boa constricter. It was jump qualified with four jumps. It was a buck sergeant.

Animals and the military...

I was visiting a Cav regiment (not US army...it was a European unit) before military exercises. In this country, cavalry has a long tradition of keeping animals, apart from horses for parade duties, to roam freely around the barracks. Anyway, in the barracks we were in was a mule, apart from other animals.

So...one day, while being addressed by the colonel, this mule casually walked up behind him and it's penis suddenly starts to extend (the mules, not the colonels) to about a metre and a half in length where it then commenced to open up the flood gates and take the most ginourmous piss I's ever seen. Obviously nobody could keep a straight face to the annoyance of the anally retentive colonel who was born without a sense of humour (are any of them?).

So anyway...yes, animals don't belong in the army...except as food.

A scapegoat!:yep:

I don't think this is the first time this has happen, I'm sure some years ago a goat was court marshalled for it's actions. :hmm:

A monkey was hanged during WW1 as it was thought to be a spy. This happened somewhere in the North of England but I can't remember where.

We don't have to salute him; he's only a lance corporal.
