Icebergs

Well...I guess they don't work in DW.:nope:

They do give off an active echo with MF sonar, but nothing of HF, and you can travel right through them.

I checked marked the "include in Sim" and still, nothing.

I tried all three varieties included, Iceberg,Iceberg5,Iceberg25. No collision damage with any of them...

Am I missing something, or is it something else not modelled in the sim?

Well no they do work some are like mush and yes you can go right through but most are like solid and i have crashed into ice burgs.

Yep, they work. :dead:

You sure? :hmm: I am talking about the enviormental objects added while creating a scenario. I tried all 3 varieties, and my Kilo just sails right through them. No damage at all. Although they do give off MF active sonar echos.

What does work is Ice ridges which are integral components of the map. Although I did not see one in Antarctica only in the northern regions.

I'm not much experienced in dives under ice. But back in the SC times, one opponent once avoided my torpedo hiding behind an iceberg (my torpedo ran into the iceberg).
But after some tests i had to notice that this tactics sometimes fails, like if the iceberg wasn't there...

Same thing maybe?

We've mentioned this to Jamie.

Also, I'll look at it as part of LWAMI4.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Cheers,
David
