Life Expectancy by country by gender

This is curious, if morbidly so....here are the stats on the life expectancy of a newborn infant categorized by country and sex.

I've never realized that things in Russia were going *that* poorly... look how poor its life expectancy is compared to the rest... even its other eastern europe neighbors.

On the other hand. Way to go Japan. That most seafood diet really has it benefits. :yep:

Yep, things in Russia are appalingly bad. It has stopped surprising me a while ago, perhaps unfortunately. I know how many of the poorer people - those who contribute to the low figure - live there, and it's not pretty. Alcoholism is a huge problem, too. I've literally known several people there who died from drinking alcohol intended for wiping metal surfaces :dead:

Aussies, Canadians and such are doing rather good I must say though

Hmm, I wonder if the CHinese life expectancy is right up there with HK and Japan....

It's gotta be something in the genes as well as the diet.

England's results look about right.

Whoa! This looks like an excuse for going out for a high cholesterol dinner tonight!

LoBlo 06-21-06 07:20 AM

Errrrrrr...:shifty: ... or maybe that high cholesterol dinners are something to avoid.:yep: Its probably one of the main reasons that some of these countries have lower life expectancy than they otherwise would... (like the US for example).

Yes, but Israel is pretty much up there in the list. So I was looking forward to a little splurge.

I got half my wish. Dinner tomorrow night - sushi - not an ounce of cholesterol. Not that I'm complaining.............:smug:

Not to rain on your parade but the chart only applies if you were born today. You'd have to find a life expectancy chart for the year of your birth and even then it'd only be an estimate.

I don't think charts were invented yet back then.

I got my full wish.

Sashimi, ikura, seared tuna slices, crispy salmon roll, washed down with hot saki.

So where's the cholesterol? A delectible chocolate and vanilla mousse dessert, wraped in a crispy white chocolate envelope.

And of course, green tea with the dessert.

kiwi_2005 06-22-06 02:44 PM

McDonalds Big Macks all da way:rock:

Cholestrol was invented by the French - dont believe a word of it!
