Maybe... Nothing is known for sure.

After careful consideration and playing through Dangerous Waters, I realized it would be interesting if they implemented a playable F-14 Tomcat. If u think about it, its possible. If a P-3 Orion is controllable without a joystick, and was very fun and unique to play as, it would be interesting to play as an F-14.
Also, having control of an aircraft carrier and all that firepower would be cool as well. Designating sorties and such. Pure ownage.

There's no way in hell you could do anything of use with an F-14 without a joystick/throttle/rudder setup. Perhaps you could fire a missile or two, but what happens when a bandit ends up merging with you and its time to turn?

It would be like trying to drive a car without a steering wheel.

True, but, if u own a sim, chances are u have a joystick. 2nd, ive simulated engagements with planes in Dangerous Waters, dogfights aint much. Using a menu or a key combination, u could easily have an option for tactical manoevures.

I've tried playing plane sims without the joystick. It is adequate (not great, but adequate) until you have to do two things:

1) Land
2) Dogfight

But then, it wasn't like I was any good with these two even though the fact my joystick wouldn't stay centered may be a factor.

The digital on-off response given by keys on a keyboard isn't good enough.

As for commands, this will be fun, "Turn Left - 1Gs" "Turn Right - 3Gs".

lol, that would be fun. But takeoff and landing can be done with autopilot or something. Takeoff could be done with key presses in SU-27 Flanker, dogfighting would be tough, and landing could be simplified.

Su-27 Flanker was exactly what I was talking about. I can shoot people down with R-77s just fine, but even with a joystick I can't cannon down the tanker I was supposed to be refuelling from (which lets me get close and it won't move a lot).

Errr...DW isn't a flight-sim. There's more to flight-simming then the P3 in this game. You know? Dynamics etc. As has been said, this is by no means a flight-sim and the MH-60 and P3 flight dynamics aren't very life-like. It's just a rough representation. So all you'll get is a bad flight-sim. ;)

Captain Norman 06-13-06 02:58 PM

Yeah, I realize that, but im not looking for a flight sim, as long as I have a fast aircraft with anti ship missile capabilites, that would be cool. I know it will never happen, it would just be an interesting possibility.

For air combat there are better simulators like lock on.

Dw is great but a f-14 canīt do nothing against a submerged submarine,
But another helos or a russian tupolev could be nice, also some other units like aegys ships or russian frigates.and germany or other countries ssk submarines
