WIP - Another Small Tanker

I was sick of my relative lack of ship building, and was inspired by some small Japanese tanker designs that I have just recently found. I started building, and before I knew what happened, I had kitbashed a new tanker. The model is based on Japanese designs, but is pretty generic and could be used for any nation. It is not ready for release however, but here are some shots.

 Nice one:up:
Boy you sure do love them tankers
Looks good - type101 ?

I Love your work....

Can anyone assist in putting a texture back onto a ship?

I have AG124's Lake ship zoned and just needing some minor work on left over parts but when I save the DAT the textures are lost...

Thank you. Yes, it will be a type 101, and the tonnage will be about 3,480 GRT.

I wish I could help you fix the UV Mapping, Der Teddy Bar, but I have no idea how to do anything like that.:damn:

Wulfmann 06-10-06 09:57 PM

Just a thought.

If you increased the draft would that lower the ship? You could make two versions of every tanker and we could place higher ones in west bound convoys and lower/deeper ones in the east bound ones.

Thinking out load.

Thanks for the tease, those are great ideas. It would be nice if one day a 40 ships convoy had 40 separate models.

Teddy,
Somewhat off topic but the previous ships released by AG124 which are now gracing my current set-up included an add on file to up the number of hit-points from stock to NYGM.

I realise that you are busy on Ship Damage 2.0 work rezoning etc but is it possible to do a similar thing for the other ship models out there? It occurred to me that this might be a stepping stone to full NYGM Ship Damage 2.0.

Regards
Malcolm

PS: AG124 I really like your ships too. I am looking forward to meeting them at sea.

Any progress on this or your others AG ?
And whatever happened to the Lake ship

AG124 08-06-06 09:28 AM

No luck so far - they are all crashing the game when they break in two. I am continuing to try, and may make some progress soon I hope.:yep:

Very nice tanker AG.

Hope to see it soon with a Brit or neutral flag on it, if possible. ;)

BTW..... what did happen to trying to make the loaded ships ride lower in the water?

Der Teddy Baer had raised this issue for NYGM some months ago (before Wulfmann mentioned it, actually), and had put forward examples of a single merchant ship that were duplicates with different riding depths (heavy laden, normal loading, in ballast). These worked well enough, but the team considered that the cost (RAM, download time) of adding an extra two types of every merchant ship was excessive. Frightful, actually.

Someone else, I think from one of the German SH3 Forums, suggested independently that the depth be altered for the ships in the campaign files. Now this works well enough for single ships in campaign_SCR.mis, but convoys - the relevant part - all occur as single groups in campaign_RND.mis. If you lower the depth for the group to simulate heavy loading, the whole group sinks by the same amount. That is unfortunate for the escorts, which tend to sink when below water!

So we abandoned the concept. Good idea, implementation not practical.

Stiebler.

I hope I get rid of this silly atavar soon. It doesn't look anything like me.

[Edit: Oh, I have. Now I'm a planesman, not someone from Bangkok.]

Thanks Stiebler for the info. I was away for a bit so I didn't know the outcome and it was all cancelled. Too bad as it would have been nice.

Even if they only did it for single ships and not the convoys it would be a welcome change I think. No worries tho, there's other more important things to mod. ;)
