Kanazawa, Japan and the KM

Looking through the records at Uboat.net, I noticed several uboat captains born in Kanazawa. Does anyone know of any significance to Germany or the Kriegsmarikne of Kanazawa?

Thank you

Uhm, probablly because during WWII Germany and Japan exchanged technology, mostlly Germany supplying Japan, from what i know. I believe that some of the Japanese captains had to undergo a training tour of duty to qualify on the new equipment then pass on the knowledge.

Sorry, that's where he was born.

I thought there might have been a German consulate or embassy there.

Hmmm. I had to look on Google Earth. Northern Honshu. Ineteresting. Possibly missionaries? In John Hersey's, Hiroshima. One of the survivors was a German reverend. Or possibly; Imperial Germany, being late in colonial claims was expanding into the Pacific rim. At the end of World War I Japan was given several Pacific German mandate island groups. Just guessing out loud.
