Randomly getting my ass kicked
When I'm leaving Lorient, just when I reach the mouth of the port and turn to go either north or west of that island, I'm consistantly damaged by SOMETHING. 9 times outta 10 I'm at a high TC so I can't react soon enough to save my boat. When my boat is destroyed, it says via collision.
I managed to get my TC down soon enough to effect repairs and it says my H.I. is 61%!!! WTF?? I know damn well I didn't run into anything! I'm on the surface, steering quite clear of the island and the French mainland. It's not a mine as there aren't any explosions. It's not shallow water as I looked to see if I'd run ground and it's atleast 20m or more below me. I'm running GW 1.1, Overlay @ 1024 fix, NYGM and Real Battery Life. This has happened ever since I was moved here. WTF?? :damn: |
It IS a mine, or a subnet. When you hit one it doesn't tell you, you just die.
You either need to follow the escort ship all the way out until he turns back, take a look at the harbor maps (included in the Additional Mods section) or install the No Mines SCR (also in Additional Mods). Me, I like to follow the escort in real time. |
Ugh... Damn mines.... I just STARTED a patrol and before I put to sea, my hull is down to 61%. Dammit!
Off to get some Harbor Maps I guess. Thanks Sailor Steve.  |
On the in game map screen (F5), there should be a map hidden in the top left corner. It shows all the sub nets (probably what it was) and mines in friendly harbors.
Just use that to plot a safe exit. |
But subnets don't extend to the surface - I'm cruising on the surface. I've gone over the one in Loch Ewe half a dozen times and never gotten a ding.
EDIT: Well, I looked at that map (didn't even know it was there... lol - thanks!) and it appears it IS a subnet. I didn't think they went high enough to screw up my boat. |
