Will my Intel video card work?

I have a new computer with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator video Driver with a 82945G Express Chipset Family with 64 MB memory.

Will I be able to run SH3 efficiently with this video card?

Thanks

An Intel video card? Sounds more like on-board graphics that are usually under-powered for games. The 64 mb memory proves it. I doubt SH3 will run very well with 64 mb.

It should work ok, but stay away from graphics-intensive mods like IUB and Grey Wolves. If you can afford it buy a decent video card.

*nod* If it's a new puter then the lack of video card could be a bottleneck, though he didn't mention the specs.

If you're gonna buy a new vid card spend as much as you can (a minimum of ~$130 to get a decent card).

Just my $.02 worth. :-j

Well the min. requiremenst clearly states that it must be a GForce or ATI card with min 64mb (and shader 2?)

So in theory it should work.
However people have run this game on the older GForce MX series with some luck.

I would suggest you buy a new card.

Iv run the game on a latop with a 1,7 Ghz centrino CPU, 1Gb ram and a ATI 64 mb card.
However I had to turn off alot of graphics features and ran a stock 1.4 game. It was still laggy...

Mhhmmm...if i remember correctly the spec of your card, 64 MB of memory SHARED.
Can i be wrong, but these series of videocard are integrad on motherboards (often if not exclusively on laptop), fitted for low-end or no 3d capabilities.
I don't think you can made sh3 run correctly, sadly the specs detection tool is installed with the game, without having the original DVD i'm not sure you can run it to test your PC.

Any new computer that comes with onboard Intel video is likely to have heat and/or power supply issues if you add a real video card. Be sure to google your exact machine and see what experiences others have had with it.

Thats taking it a bit far - most MB's have onboard video, even those with dual PCI-E slots for SLI video.... but the point about the power requirements of the added card is valid. I recently shopped for a new machine and noticed a lot with empty PCI-E or AGP slots that did not have enough power supply to add even a mid range card.

Okay, did some research and this is what Intel had to say about the chipset:

Platforms based on the Intel® 945G Express Chipset, combined with either the Intel® Pentium® D processor or Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology)†, deliver innovative features and new benefits for both home and business.
The Intel 945G Express Chipset delivers outstanding system performance through high-bandwidth interfaces such as dual-channel DDR2 memory, 1066/800 MHz system bus, PCI Express* x16 graphics port and PCI Express x1 I/O ports, Serial ATA 3.0 Gbps and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity. This chipset includes the Intel® GMA 950 graphics core which provides responsive graphics performance and stunning video playback. In addition, the Intel 945G Express Chipset includes support for Intel® Active Management Technology, the next generation of remote client network management.

My video card I believe is called a Media Accelerator 950 Graphics Core. This is what intel says about this product:

256-bit graphics core running at 400MHz

Up to 10.6 GB/sec memory bandwidth with DDR2 667 system memory

1.6 GPixels/sec and 1.6 GTexels/sec fill rate

Up to 224 MB maximum video memory

2048x1536 at 75 Hz maximum resolution

Dynamic Display Modes for flat-panel, wide-screen and Digital TV support

Operating systems supported: Microsoft Windows* XP, Windows* XP 64bit, Media Center Edition 2004/2005, Windows 2000; Linux-compatible (Xfree86 source available)
is is what intel says about this product:

Does this sound like I can run this game?

As others have stated, you should get stock SH3 to work "OK", but don't expect to be able to enjoy The Grey Wolves, IUB or any other graphic intensive mod.

FWIW I'd spend a few hundred and get a real video card (assuming you have the PSU to handle it). I have what can be considered an "entry level" nVidia 6600GT and it works great.
