deck gun question

does anybody know this , is it the amount of shells that you put in a ship or where you hit the ship that make it sink
thanks :o

In the training whatever you can play, they do say location makes a difference.

I've never really tested this, just assume it's true. I guess right at the water line is best.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I don't think that shooting one spot will make a ship go down faster. Although I only killed a couple of ships with the deck gun, I always ended up just shooting anywhere, because there seemed to be no difference.

However ofcourse, you may shoot and destroy specific places like deck guns, masts and so on...

In the stock game it doesn't make a difference. If you use a mod like NYGM you must shoot at the waterline or the ship won't sink.

Yes well, that last patrol i put 90 rounds into a tug boat before it sank. Man was i pissed. All of em at the water line.

In the stock game a ship usally has around 400 hit points in mods this differs so say you fire a HE shell into a ship your shell has a hit point of say 20 or whatever depending on where you fire waterline or whatever in stock game the ship will sink after it's 400 HP been depleted now am playing GW and it don't work that way something to do with flooding you have to hit a ship all over the place now to sink her so I understand somebody correct me if am wrong.

Waterline. Although if you are engaging armed ships, take out the emplacements first!
