Convoy Trouble
It's 1941, I'm patrolling AM29 and the radioman informs me of a contact...

Almost the whole convoy is American! T3s, T2s, C3s... all of them off limits. Only 4 small merchants are flying a british flag. :damn: My wife didn't care when I told her, but I was hoping for some sympathy from you guys  |
I feel for you - been in almost the same predicament as you though never as bad as this. In the early war years, the convoys are often mixed and the best targets are usually neutral.
Save your topedoes... Kind regards, Eichenlaub |
just happend to me as well. :damn:
Tho i did find one Brit T2 & a couple little merchants. i did mistakenly hit an american C3 but it didnt sink...i guess i'm happy about that. Due to this experience tho i now see why the u-boat skippers were often quite glad when Germany declared war on america. I mean the ^&(*() have been shipping supplies to England and making it harder for me to sink the British ships by mixing in with them. And no my wife wasn't very symapthetic to my frustration either. :stare: Just try to look forward to Drumbeat & we'll make them pay then!! |
Yeah, I thought that as well. Tricky political deal going on there.
We (the US) also had US planes fighting the Japanese in China before Pearl Harbor. People tend to forget that. |
Oh no! Totally gutted mate!
I feel for the sailors on your boat! Going through all that trouble only to find 90% of the convoy off limits! Gutted. Only one word for it. |
Well it could be worse. It could be late '43 when you discover a large convoy full of tankers (enemy ones) and there's so many good escorts around it that you can't even get close to them without getting the bejebbers DCed out of you.
Don't worry, you'll get plenty of chances to put those good maneuvers to the test. GL. |
