The newly elected Human Rights Council... was voted to include... China... and... Cuba... :nope:

Doesn't anyone else remember that it was only a few years ago (1989) when China demonstrated its brutaility toward its own citizens by opening fire on thousands of peaceful demonstrators in Beijing square with automatic weapons fire and military grade high damage bullets (designed not just to stop their victim, but designed to cause as much damage, tearing, and mutilation upon impact) massacreing their own citizens... and the leaders of the country has recently denied Chinese citizens the right to open elections...

... and don't get me started about Cuba... a country run by a dictatorship that chooses to doom its citizens to lifelong poverty in order to keep itself in power...

And *these* were the countries voted *into* the Human Rights Council by the UN. Am I mission something? Did the UN really just vote in countries representing some of the most pitiful representatives of disrespect to human rights into its council? :88)

The pehnomenon is not new, the UN was hijacked decades ago during the Cold War, and since then has been lost to hypocrisy. If it isn't getting handed to Human Rights violators, it's getting used as a tool for the Global Goverment.

When was the last time a debate happened in the UN? Today it serves only as a room for speeches followed by automatic applauses. It's dumbed down to the bottom.

The U.N. is a disgraceful organisation more so in what they said early this year. Let the U.N. run the world and we will solve world poverty with all the money we are sitting on. “WHAT,� they can solve world poverty with out holding the world to ransom, they are so twisted and short sighted, why do we need these bunch of crooks.

The U.N. Committee Against Torture demanded that the US shut down Gitmo.

Blair not too long ago labelled Guantanamo as an anomoly whilst the British Attorney General quite recently explicity said that it was "unacceptable" and "should close."
