Silent Hunter 3 Running on a 17 Inch MacBookPro
Been having some downtime due to my old PC giving up the ghost.
I needed Mac apps for work but what about my sims...? Answer: Apple Bootcamp Received my MBP 17 yesterday. Here's some shots I took after installing XP Pro and loading up Silent Hunter 3. It works great! Letting the crew get used to the idea of Think Different ;) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/SH3Mac01.jpg And one from the external view during the Bismark mission: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/SH3Mac02.jpg Looks like I won't have to dry dock my sub after all. :|\ S! |
Dude...omg. Does that Mac have an intel core? XP pro runs on a Mac? Must be new, right? Anyway - looks slick.

What kind of FPS are you getting on various screens ?

:o
MUST KNOW HOW  :o |
Lucky devil, You have a new 17 Inch MacBookPro, I've only got a Old G4 at home.
True proof that mac's are great machines, Even with intel inside (a dual core processor redeems it some what) How does the performance rate with bootcamp, and do you have any software issues? My next computer will be a mac, more so now as it can run Mac OS and Windows (that's if microsoft ever releases Vista!) |
Nice, but if you want to get the full effect running in widescreen mode, click on the link below ;)
Whole new effect http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...cccb832e1a5b17 edit: Nevermind, does not work with the patched game :( |

i want to join the second campaign. I checked the website, but it's a bit hard to find out what's going on - when does the next one start? At the end of the summer, I guess? Kb |
Sorry about the delay in replying.
Yea, I was hoping for the widescreen too. I can run it in stretched mode but I prefer the 4:3 aspect ratio. Thanks though. As for Bootcamp, it has been running very well so far. Apple provides the drivers for XP (weird huh?) to burn to an install disk. No need to hunt them down thankfully. A few things like key layout can be corrected with a free keymapper utility listed in the Apple discussions forum. There is one for right-click for the pad which is free. It is just like running on a PC laptop with the option to run in OSX for other apps I like and use for work. For frame rates, they seem pretty good for a laptop mobile Vid card. I am running full effects, particles, etc. I used Fraps to get some snaps with FPS running to check out: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tes/S3SS01.jpg 76FPS http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tes/S3SS02.jpg 43FPS http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tes/S3SS03.jpg 41FPS http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...tes/S3SS04.jpg 42FPS I tried to get some stuff you would see in heavy action. It varies but not bad at all I guess. Certainly playable. I'll try to upload a video on youtube or something in a while of it in action if I have time. All I seem to find there are Bootcamp videos of Oblivion and Half-Life 2. :-j S! |
