The Seven Wonders of teh World ---> You Decide
|
i have to register to vote? forget it.
The Basil Cathedral I'd go for, at least it's not a ruin like some of the items presented there. I don't think putting wall of china and such really is justified. |
Register :(
guess that is only way to prevent people with dynamic IP from voting a 1000 times, too bad :-( If Neal would increase the max number of poll option a litl (21) we could have the poll here. |
My choices would be (no particular order):
1. The Great Wall of China 2. The Pyramids of Giza 3. The Hagia Sophia 4. The Taj Mahal 5. Angkor 6. The Kremlin/Red Square/St. Basil 7. Neuschwanstein I find it strange that the Eiffel Tower was included, and yet Notre Dame Cathedral was not, as I find it to be far more impressive and imposing, and would have certianly included it in my top seven. |
Who said some bastard organization can decide the new seven wonders of the world and put what they find fitting to vote?! Who are they?! What are the credentials of this bunch of adventurers?!
As Takeda said, who voted the Eiffel over the Notre Dame? Because one symbolizes the glorious new future of the machine-men versus the reactionary useless Church? What's wrong with the old 7 Wonders anyway?! Quote:
This Swiss is nuts, or isn't trying hard enough. Well, I suppose "adventurers" aren't the primary keepers of humankind's heritage, i expect too much, I must lower my standards and accept his mediocrity, who else will protect humankind's heritage afterall? Quote:
"... be a part of the making of history !" - No thanks. [skeptic mode off] |
I would like to write in a vote for the Saturn V rockets on display at the Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Far more useful objects than most of whats on their list. ;)

Aren't the pyraminds of Giza one of the orginal 7 wonders?
We already know its a wonder! Are we so low on wonders that it has to be listed twice? |

Kidding aside, I second the votes for the lunar landers, Viking I and II, and especially the Mars Rover. I'd also add the famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) "Mars Meteorite" (ALH84001). It may yet prove to be the biggest wonder in history. |
1. Pyramids of Giza
2. The Great Wall of China 3. Stonehenge 4. Easter Island Statues 5. The Taj Mahal 6. The Kremlin and Red Square 7. The Statue of Liberty |
How do they put something like the Eiffel Tower next to something like the Taj Mahal? Are these guys really serious? It would be impoossible to build something like the Taj Mahal in modern day construction - the cost would be astronimical!
