Losing a rank, please help

I've returned from a successful patrol with 7400 tons sunk (GW mod+stock SH3 1.4). It was my first patrol and I got promoted to Oberstleutnat. I exited the game, reloaded later and the promotion was gone. Is there any file where I could change this? Won't it spoil my future promotions? Thank you very much for any answers.

I am using RuB rank settings:
[PLAYER_RENOWN]
AcademyBonus=1000
RankLevel0=0; SCORE
RankLevel1=1499; SCORE
RankLevel2=7999; SCORE
RankLevel3=15999; SCORE
MedalSettings0=0.25
MedalSettings1=0.5
MedalSettings2=1
MedalScore0=3000;2 class, SCORE
MedalScore1=6000;1 class, SCORE
MedalScore2=20000; knight, SCORE
MedalScore3=30000; oak leaves, SCORE
MedalScore4=40000;swords, SCORE
MedalScore5=50000;diamonds, SCORE
MedalScore6=90000;all, SCORE

Is your renown now less than 1499? If so, that's why. Buying up big and sinking your own or neutral ships will reduce your renown to lower than the ranklevel threshhold. When that happens, bye bye rank.

If this is not the case, double check your Basic.cfg file. GW uses the stock SH3 promotion model which requires higher renown for promotions. Perhaps the original settings are now back in the game?

BTW, the RUb promotion model is the most realistic to go with: you get your ranks more timely but your medals not as easy.

well, I'll check the file once more, but I have changed it to reflect RuB values and saved it before mission. My renown is 2240 after the first mission and I got promoted but then after reloading, it suddenly disappeared.

Did you save the changes before you loaded SH3? Basic.cfg is loaded upon startup; changing it with SH3 running will have no effect until SH3 is exited and started again.

Alternatively, are you running SH3Cmdr? If so, did you rollback before making the Basic.cfg changes? Not doing so would simply mean that your changes are being overwritten by the previous version of Basic.cfg (ie the GW version) every time you load SH3.

yes, I saved it before start-up, I'll double check the file as soon as I return from work. But the problem is that I was promoted and after quiting and reloading the game, the promotion was gone (with no change to my renown)...

This is not a RUb bug. It also exists in the standard game. Basically if your renown drops below a certain point you get demoted. It's usually very temporary. The next patrol will usually fix it.

yep, I know about this one, but my renown hasn't changed at all.

BTW it's Ober- not Oberstleutnant. Oberst = Colonel; Ober = Senior.
