Monsun Boats
 

I know that the Monsun campaign isn't in the original SH3, but GW provides the boats from which a boat could refuel from and the bases are present if one wanted to try out the Indian ocean (though upgrades and torpedo loadout changes would be impossible).

Has anyone tried this? And if so, any success?

I'm curious as I'd love to take a IXD2 there and check it out, however, I'm not really interested if there is nothing to find--and yes, I know, that there wasn't that much to find there in the first place. But hell, I bought the game the day it came out, and I'm looking for some new hunting grounds.

If no one has, I'm willing to scout out the Monsun prospects and report on my findings.
