night air attack
Quick question,
I just got the mod that adds leigh lights to attacking bombers. But of all my time playing SHIII I don't remember ever being attacked at night. Anybody ever seen bombers during night time? |
The chance of attacks at night is less than that during day throughout the war. However, they do attack! I've been attacked and sunk by bombers at night before.
|
Same here but just survived heading out on patrol I was attacked in the Bay of Biscay. That was one short patrol; I had to put back in port for repairs.
|
I remember reading it happends more often later in the war somewhere on the forums
|
I had a night attack some weeks ago at Bergens port, just when I begin the mission over there. I took screenshots but I've lost them :-?
|
If you want to be attacked at night, get a IX and drive over to the American coast for Drumbeat. PBYs fly at night, even without mods installed. And I have seen B-24s flying "at night" (dusk/twilight) while on Drumbeat patrols as well.

Ok this is great news!
That leigh lights mod is a must have then! Imagine having a bomber painting you on radar, and then turning on the spotlights on its bombing run! wow.... |
When they buzz me I don't usually stay surfaced long enough to enjoy the spotlights anyway. :-j
Love the sig, btw. |

Yeah, cool shots!
"Spotlight!..... Flashlight!.... Red light!..... " ;) |
Nice screen shots. At least you can see them coming if you plan to shoot it out on the surface.

I've been attacked at night, with no mods at all. I used to get "aircraft spotted!" and it was always too late to crash dive. Never got any warning from my radar detectors either. Thankfully I always managed to shoot them down and they never damaged me.
There's a thread where night attacks are mentioned, and how they are too frequent and too accurate - along with a fix (number 5) http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopi...ight=sensorpak Perhaps you should increase the "Modifier on strike probability at night", though why you'd want to is beyond me :D |
