Anyone met hospital ship with IuB and GW?
I never saw any

Me neither

Yep. I saw one on my last patrol, travelling by itself. I let her go in peace (rather than in pieces LOL).

Which mod you use, where you were and when it happened ? Edit: i've just understand that you meant you let her go and not R.I.P. her :-j |
It was somewhat bittersweet, to come across such a ship all alone, but then just simply watch her sail by.
I only run Grey Wolves and SH3Cmdr. I saw her around Nov/Dec 1942, sailing east towards Ireland, IIRC. |
Of the west coast of Ireland sailing west at about 14 knots. Actually quite spectacular really because the weather consisted of heavy rain, medium fog and clouds overcast. It was about after midnight too so the fact that my watch crew picked her up was quite amazing. Two ships passing in the night...

Good thing you did let her go.That would be one heck of a renown hit to take.
Just so people are aware when they do see one... You will loose 10,000 renown points for sinking her not gain points according to the NHOS.cfg file in the Sea Folder. [Unit] ClassName=NHOS UnitType=103 MaxSpeed=18 Length=167 Width=12.3 Mast=37 Draft=7.5 Displacement=12000 RenownAwarded=-10000 |
CH75 just east of Gibraltar I average atleast 3 or four of them a patrol there. They are usually heading east.

My Grandfather on my mother's side fought all through North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and finally Southern France where he was sent home early due to serious injury by land mine. He was at Kesserine pass when the Germans cleaned our clocks. I'm lucky I got to know him. There were certainly enough casualties to keep more than one hospital ship full. |

I did some reading about N.Africa and Italy last summer - pretty grim, to say the least. At least most histories say that The Pass taught US infantry valuable lessons & saved lives later on. |
First with NYGM Tonnage War stand alone fresh install. A couple weeks ago came across a large ship eastbound toward Ireland travelling at high speed. Visibility was crap so I took a chance and fired a spread of 4.
3 hits, the ship came to a stop so I surfaced and closed in reloading my forward tubes. At about 1500m I was able to make out a faded red cross on the funnel. We sat there for over an hour watching the ship slowly list more and more until she finally gave in. Call me a War Criminal I guess but up to that point I had only heard of them but never actually encountered one. Second time using Rubini's Unified Campaign. TW + HT Same general area, EB toward Ireland. Running surfaced we came across one and just let it go. |
I'm using GW and SH3Commander, and have sunk two Hospital Ships on two separate patrols. I recieved 6,000 reknown points each time. Don't know why that is. :hmm:
