Pretend your U-boat was flown there - via a very large blimp. Or you took a train ride down to Italy and got a new boat but painted your number and emblem on it. Or you made a call to Scottie and he beamed you over to Italy. Now why can't he just beam me to all the nice convoys?

Yeah i know, kind of anti climatic aint it?

On a side note, i have on at least one occasion ran gibralter when i was in the 7th flot, and after crossing the straights i got an order that my base was changed to the med.

Im not sure if that was by design or was related to a bug where you get transfered to the 1st flot or other weird shenanigans. *shrug* try running the straights and see if your transfered. I have a feeling it was related to buggy behavior though.

whaat? The only time i was transfered to the med (in stock game) i was in mid patrol comming out of ST Naziare and i got a radio message "Base Changed to La Spezia". I was so upset because it was the end of 1941 and i was having a blast of a career. Sinking merchants left and right with little or no damaged to my u-boot. Crossing the Gibralter my first try, by the time i was barely friggin 5 minutes into my crossing plan a plane came at dusk and not only shot my IWO during his initial attack run, he bombed my boat to oblivion. I even had about 5 minutes to daze and think about my career until the boat sunk under the waves. Lame...

What I do if I intend to transfer is sail to the port I intend to transfer to, but not so close that I get the "Dock At:" option. Then just exit and effect the transfer. Only drawback is no renown for returning to port, I just think of that as the cost of a transfer. :)

In a way though that's really cool

... because you have to get past GIBRALTER!!!

personally i think it would be better if when you placed a request to be transferred, and it got accepted then a mission with NULL grid was made with start base Brest (or whichever you are at) and finish at an italian base. would be more realistic.

Does any1 else get the "Base Changed to ---" while AT SEA? Cuzz then u can definately sail to whatever port it was changed to. This happened to me a few times, only once going into the med, and a few times while in Wilmshaven to France.. Coulda sworn it was done like that.. If not.. its WACK! :stare:
