No clouds after IuB 1.03 Patch 1.1

JonZ,

I recently noticed that after installing the 1.1 patch that all clouds are gone. For instance, rain w/ a blue sky. If I go back to the stock 1.03, they reappear. FYI, I'm enabling 1.1 via JSGME.

Any ideas?

P.S. -- I don't get this problem w/ GW (I thought it might be the Atmo Mod but it doesn't appear to be so).

Strangely I've made a similar post just few minutes ago

It is perhaps a bad installation with a forget to rollback SH3 Commander.

I will start investigating this tonight. Replacing the original 1.03 data/scenes.dat might be the temporary solution.

Usually it happens after a bad uninstallation of one or more mods.

Try this:

ROLLBACK SH3 COMMANDER if you are using it

UNINSTALL ALL YOUR MODS with JSGME

REINSTALL NOW IUB 1.03 and PATCH 1.1 IN ORDER

Good luck!

Been there, done that...

I did a complete reinstall of SH3 to 1.4...got clouds. Installed IuB 1.03 via JSGME...still have clouds. Installed 1.1 over IuB via JSGME and now NO clouds. Has to be something in the new "scene.dat."

FYI, I didn't use SH3 Cmdr during any of these tests just to negate that as a possible "roll back" problem.

Eureka!   ,

After a lot of trial and error, it seems that the problem lies with the v1.1 SkyColors_Atl.dat & SkyColors_Med.dat files. I think SkyColors_Arct.dat is OK -- I went way up north and didn't run into any problems.

JonZ, What was changed in those files from 1.03?

Thanks for your contribution to find the problem. I finally didn't have time to check the issue yesterday.

I can't remember why I made changes in /Env folder in this patch. I Can't even remember having issues after testing it. But Sh3 Commander have perhaps overwritten these files...

All I can remember is I did some small changes in the scenes.dat and it not related to these files.

I'll try my best to check out for this this evening...

Oh, can you check if these files you mentions are differents in the first IuB 1.03 and the Patch? (currently at work).

JonZ,

You're quite welcome :D !

The files in question are only different in that the v1.1 "Date Modified" is 1-2 minutes later than 1.03...everything else is the same "externally." I haven't dabbled with modding .dat files yet, so I'm not sure what the differences are inside.

I just come back and realised that too. I don't know what happened here and really don't know why I rewrited the entire Env folder. My last changes didn't imply at all the Env. settings. I might just have been sleepy and did not realised that these files were the 8Km version instead of 16km...

The solution might just be to just to revert the 16Km range or 8Km Env. files.

I'm surprise of the low responses of this, maybe because many of the players haven't installed the patch or just don't play with SH3 Commander :hmm:

I feel embarassed now, I guess I have to do a 1.2 patch lol god :nope:

Thank you very much for reporting this issue

JonZ :)

JonZ,

Embarrassed?!? My friend, IuB 1.03 was an enormous undertaking and a GREAT WORK!! You can't expect to find every error. I'm just glad to be of help to make IuB and SH3 a better sim experience for all!

I have the same problem! Yesterday i was sailing in the middle of a strom with a wounderful ble sky  Have you found the reason?
Thank you

WhiteW0lf 04-07-06 12:15 AM

I have the same problemsw without using IUB, I am using SH3 Cmdr and RUB 1.45, I had the problem start with IUB but reinstalled everything except IUB and have the same problem.

WhiteW0lf 04-07-06 12:18 AM

I just did a fresh install of everything except IUB into my laptop and will see if there is clouds. The laptop is a ABS G4 Mayhem with a 256mb nvidia 6600 and a P4 2.0 with 1GB of Ram.

Try this temporary patch

http://files.filefront.com/IuB_103_1.../fileinfo.html

dont forget to rollback SH3 commander

JScones 04-07-06 06:38 AM

FYI SH3Cmdr does NOT touch any of the SkyColors_xxx.dat files. Notwithstanding the Rollback aspect, SH3Cmdr is not the cause of this problem (just want to be clear as I know how these things seem to spread ;)).

Isn't there a post around here somewhere identifying that the problem is linked to the 16km atmosphere files?
