Torpedo Door Question
Has anyone else run into this? I'll usually open the torpedo doors shortly before I get ready to fire (eg. open doors 2 and 3) however if I don't fire immediately, I get the delay for not opening the doors first. Is it supposed to work this way?
It's mostly noticable when I open more than one door, by the time I go back to the first tube I opened I'll get the delay when I fire. |
This is what I found in the Wiki manual.
The selected tubes door will close whenever you select a new tube with the ‘Y’ key. The newly selected tube will stay open. The selected tubes door will close whenever you press the 'W' key. The selected tubes door will close whenever you fire a torpedo. The selected tubes door will close whenever you select a different tube from an attack scope. The selected tubes door will not close when you select a different tube from the TDC (F6) screen. Tube doors do not have any time limit for staying open. http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...itle=Torpedoes I think that if you open door 1, and then click door 2 and open it, it will close door 1. Hopefully this helps. |
Yep, that happens sometimes. I've taken to using the manual switches, either in the conning tower or the weapons officer's station. Those stay open until you either fire the torpedo or go manually close them again.

Thanks Mil_tera, that answers my question.

I think maneuvering causes them to close as well, doesn't it? Seems to be that way when I play...

Good info, I've had them close on me if I had to turn some at the last minute. |
Sadly, leaving the doors open doesn't seem to have an effect on the boats speed or the depth you can submerge to. :(

Maybe modable, would be good that you would have to keep in track of these things. :hmm:
