ShipSim2006

Hi!
I thought some of you might be intrested in this new ship-simulator:
http://www.shipsim.com

It is only available in geman yet, but they are working on an english version.
The german forum can be found here: http://www.schiffsim.de

The developers asked the community to send them 3d-models and data of ships to be included in a free upgrade (nope, there is no SDK yet :-? ). So, if you got some detailed ship-models -> let them know! :arrgh!:

Book marked and awaiting to pay thanks.

Interesting, sort of a competitor to Virtual Sailor.

Hopefully this will help push the standards up a little bit, maybe add more stuff to VS beta 7.

Syxx_Killer 03-14-06 04:14 PM

That sure looks interesting. I'd love to be able to sail the Titanic. :ahoy:

docnobby 03-15-06 06:19 AM

Yeah! Love the look and feel of the titanic model! :)
I tried to dock it in the harbour of hamburg. Without a tug boat of course.

Well... it took me about 65min and I guess there might have been some scratches on the ship. :shifty:

I guess I'll give a chance to the tug next time! :|\

That looks much better than VS.....but hopefully they do counter with VS 7.0 :yep:

docnobby 03-16-06 12:23 AM

Well, the good thing about there being no subs is, you don't need to be afraid someone is sneakin up on you while taking your cargo ship for a ride! :smug:

But the developers claimed, there 'll be subsurface stuff in the next release. That'll be ShipSimulator2007, to be released in Q4 2006.

Greetings: DocNobby

Nice review. :P

Well, it looks great, but it seems there's not much sailing to do, since the maps are small.

JetSnake 03-21-06 04:56 PM

Looks neat but probably about as exciting as that microsoft train sim that came out a few years ago. :yep:

... and Train Sim has it's sounds - the addon for the subway in Berlin is an exact replica of the sound environment, inclusive the onboard anouncements. I almost made a mental timewarp when using it the first time. That addon is great fun, for the means of Train Simulator.

the new upcoming addon by the same company is about the Berlin Strassenbahn back in the 20s.

http://www.tml-studios.de/index.php?id=29

The addon on the modern Berlin S-Bahn also is not bad, a bit buggy, but plenty of eye-candy and complex city-scenery wioth highly realistic object placing throughout the city.

I've hijacked the thread. Sorry!
