Scharnhorst

I just d/load the Scharnhorst, and installed it. Then I created a single mission for her,and eventually got her up and running. then I put her in the Bismark mission to see how she would fair in combat and to my suprise Bismark got hit numerous of times and the damage was quite visable while the scharnhorst recieved 5 hits from the Revenge BB and the destroyer escorts multiple hits on her midships but no visible damage.before she took out the Revenge and the DDs.
Im just wondering why there was no signs of damage on the Scharnhorst.

It is posible that there are no damage files for it yet.

For those that don't know, the Scharnhorst is available here:

It is the Bismarck with 3 of Rodney's turrets but the KGV 14 inch guns.
So this is a Bismarck class with 9 14 inch guns and not anything like the smaller Scharnhorst of reality.
Had the Scharnhorst really possessed this much power the twins might have changed the course of the war.
There is no 283MM gun in SH3 so the choice was 14-15-16 inchers or 8inch from the Hipper class
Also denotes why I was never keen on it being made but to each their own.

I thought the model looked different than the Bismark. :-? Really looked like a new model to me, although I knew about the turrets.

Cdr Gibbs said he was working on some new 11' turrets, but that they were not ready.

Another problem with the Scharnorst model is that not enough effort was put into the ID manual image. The grey background could have been deleted easily.

Still, overall a better effort than I could have done with a warship.

I thought that myself,I also just d/loaded U-Boat WarAce v1.51 standalone and she appears in the RNd folder seems a bit silly to have a ship ingame that does not have any damage files (if that's what it is).

Rubini 03-14-06 06:37 PM

GW already have Scharnhorst scripted in Operation Berlin and at Norway invasion too. He take damage and sink like all others ships!

Rubini.

This may happen if the ZON file were not ajusted to account for changes made to the 3D model of the original/parent ship used for making Scharnhorst (whatever it was Bismarck or Hipper).

Tried it again same mission (bismark) and she had a crew rating of 2 this time I took no part in the mission so it was basically a shootout between 2 UK BBs and DDs against the Bismark and the Scharnhorst, same thing occured again Scharnhorst took a few hit but nothing serious bismark took a pounding at the end british task force destroyed Bismark very heavly damaged almost sinking Scharnhorst virtually untouched. just can't understand it and I set the waypoints for the Scharnhorst to close on the brits to around 500m. next test I think I will set her crewratings to 0 and see what happens.

How hard would it be to add 'Operation Cerberus' to a campaign file? :hmm:

For those that don't know, "Operation Cerberus' was the Channel Dash of the German battleships Scharnhorst, Gneisneau and the CA Prinz Eugen.

It has hull from Bismark, while re-arranged cabins and catapult. As for me, with 16-inch turrets it looks like USS Iova battleship.
