Limited fuel problem

I took "use limited disel fuel" option and now i found out i didnt even get to my grind outside Bergen before i was 50% low.

I have the first type of sub so the fuelank is prolly very small. Possible to refuel somehow or do i have to get short patrols?

No chance for refuelling in 1939. For cruising speed use ahead slow or ahead standard. You will get short but doable patrols.

Gather some renown and in 2-3 missions, you are going to get a brand new VIIB

Save fuel travel submerged/on surface 1/3 or slow ahead. TypeII coastal subs have small fuel tanks too so no long patrols with those. VII class in the future will get you much further and with IX you can travel "the world". Milkcows are awailable sa mods and also included with Rub and IuB mods .
Prost!
EDIT: To add...yeah no refuelling in 1939 that is correct not even with current mods available

I must agree with this. Best to not risk running out of fuel.

Yes many people make the mistake of running on standard speed, it's always best to run on 1/3. Your fuel will be more efficient, it will just take you longer to reach your destination...but you can always spin off a few Rina Ketty records in that time. :-)
