Giving some character
I have a 1:35 scale sherman tank model I'm working on that has crewmen that came with it. Does anyone have any tips on how to put a face on those little men.

1:35.....pretty good size model.
I lost patience with model-making years ago. Now in a slump of middle-aged laziness I just buy those cast-metal Forces of Valor tanks at the hobby store. They come already painted and assembled. My Russian T-34/85 wants to know when your Sherman can come out to play. ;) http://zioxville.homestead.com/files/T_34.jpg |
My patience is getting there already. I finally found somewhere that I can get pointers though so we'll see. The sherman is in the shop, turret still not together but my panther is up for a match.

Shepherd Paine gives some good tips - go from light to dark, use nice blending and some basic paint techniques. Highlight softly (no sharp transitions). I promise after all the faces I painted I was ready for oils.
1/35 isn't all that small - you should try armies of 1/72 scale :o Mountbatten |
Appreciate the tips Glowworm, maybe now my tank will have a commander that doesn,t scare the hell outta the crew. They're probably used to it by now though.
