Lucky Brits. I'd love to see it myself. Curious to see how it compares to other film portrayals of Hitler's final demise such as The Last Ten Days and The Bunker.

Sorry to drag this post up, but i've only just finished watching it.

Stunning, simply stunning. Bruno Ganz plays the part of Hitler to a level i have never seen before.

I really hope this film has won plenty of awards as it deserves it.

I actually felt very ill watching Magda Goebbels poison all of her children. I had to whizz it on as i was feeling quite sad and disturbed.

Everyone MUST see this film.

STEED 03-08-06 11:49 AM

Yea that Magda Goebbels poisoning all of her children is a real gut wrencher. That bit with Bruno Ganz as Hitler in the Map room throwing his coloured pencils down the times I read that in books, finally to see it in a film wow. Yes it's great film, glad to hear you enjoyed it Rotary Crewman.

Now we can have the great debate. Who has played the most compelling Hitler?

Alec Guinness....Anthony Hopkins...or Bruno Ganz? Gotta admit Bruno does look like he has been through the two-front war wringer.

Ganz looks like the real thing...

CCIP 03-08-06 09:45 PM

Ganz is amazing. Even more amazing (to me) was the guy who played Goebbels in that film.

I rented the DVD before, and I plan to buy it. And I suggest everyone do the same. Worth every bit, amazing film

Not your average Goebbels. :o

For the young Hitler it has to be Robert Carlyle

For the older Hitler it has to be Bruno Ganz

That's my vote.
