Wind speed
 

Just a short question: when it says wind speed ... direction 194, is that the direction it's blowing or the direction it's coming from, if your heading in the same direction it's blowing, do you gain some speed or lose it, if you head in the opposite direction? Just wondering because why else would the developers put it in there.

I think wind speed does affect your speed by a knot or so, because in a storm I'll often be running at say 10 knots and have it constantly drop to 9 then 8 then up to 10 without any speed adjustments or course adjustments by me.

Wind direction is where its coming from. It seems to me that wind speed in this game mostly just relates to wave height of the seas, and the bigger waves is what slows you down when its windy, not the wind itself.

What if the waves are like 7m/s, not big enough to effect speed, and direction is 194, does that mean if I head at 14 degress I'll gain a knot?

Maybe if you hoist a sail you would gain speed from the wind, other than that I don't think so. But I'm no expert, just speaking from short experience, so I could be wrong for the first time ever. ;)
