Must have Mods?

Hello, just got SH3 about 4 days ago.

Been playing Career and Maultiplayer, top notch game we have here!

Now, to the point..are there any "Must Have" mods out there?

I have the Fatigue mod and the Milk Cow mod

I´d say RuB (RealuBoat).

Get it from here:
http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/

And after few weeks, the new 'supermod' Grey Wolves will be released and if the devs really speak the truth, that´s the next mod you want to get.

Welcome to the world of horror, boredom and joy; Silent Hunter III ;)

Good Hunting!

Rubini's Harbor Traffic Mod. You'll see ships and planes all around your home base, and more.

SHIII Commander: gives your captain a real history, including photograph. Takes many of the best options and puts them into an easy-to-use format.

I'd say RUb is the most essential mod. I'd never play SH3 without it.

It all depends on what YOU want out of the sim. I myself have about 20+ mods installed and love it. Go to http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/ and click on articles on the left side then on Silent Hunter 3 Readme files (354) and browse through some of the mods that look interesting to you. You can read about what they do and what they effect. Then when you find one "or more" that you want to try go to the download page and download it to a file on your desk top. (I made a file that is called Sh3 mods). :ping: Now BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANYTHING, download and install the jsgme.zip file in the "must have section". THEN unzip any mods you have downloaded into the "mods" folder that will now be in your programs/ubisoft/silenthunter 3" folder. This will allow you to install any mods so you can try them and and if you do not like them you can EASILY uninstall them without having to reload a fresh SH3 install  .

Any questions ask here on the forums. I hope this helps and does not appear to be talking down to you if you already know more than this.

Welcome to Silent Hunter III Herr Kaleun!

Take a look at not only the RUB mod, but compare it to IUB. Some say that RUB is better than IUB and vice versa. Ask questions and do a little research into both and find out which one suits your style.

Personally, I use IUB... simply because of the way the hydorphone contacts appear on my Navigation map in RUB.

Just as Herr Karl mentioned, look into JSGME, a.k.a. “Generic Mod Enabler”. It's a program that simplifies the mod installation process. Just follow the directions in the "Readme" file if you decide to use the program.

In addition. Look into "SH3 Commander". It's a stand alone program that gives you better immersion and control over your Kaptian's career. SH3 Commander also gives you options such as selecting your next patrol grid, change your U-boats number, adjust time compression settings and a whole lot more.

I'd better quit, I'm starting to sound like a salesman in an "Infomercial"!

JSMGE, SH3 Commander, Harbor Traffic, then IuB and/or Rub. Those are everyone's top five. Then any of the graphic enhancements/scenery, and navmap/maptools mods especially if you're manual targetting. And supe up you gramaphone with some WWII gramaphone mods, and das boot theme music!
