Finding altitude

I don't really understand how come it is not possible to find the altitude of airborne contacts. At least with the Fire control illuminating a contact (like in real life) we should have access to find out the altitude of an approaching ctc. I guess they would have to change the interface of the OHP platform for that.

At least being able to see the altitude in the DDI would be great.
Those days this is a very very important criteria to determine if the contact has an hostile intent.....

So I don't understand why it is not in the game????

Actually the radar reads the altitude. It is defined in tha sensor database and you can use it with scripts. It is just not shown in DDI. One of the hundrets minor troubles.

So where would it be shown?

I would be really interested to know how (with script like you are saying?)
How did you find out that it is in the sensor database.

Because I am guessing the sensor suite (in itself) of the OHP are not able to provide the altitude, but the STIR yes.

What about IFF. Usually the Mode C of the IFF is giving commercial airliners altitude too.

That would be outstanding to be able to have it all the time.
That would help for our resolve on a specific airborne ctc about his intention (like dropping altitude at some point!!

Soemthing to keep in mind for the inevitable Tico/Burke expansion.

There is some database editor for DW somewhere. You can see properties of all sensors in the game, on of them is 'reads altitude'. All radars in the game reads altitude, if I remember correctly.

Altitude is just not shown anywhere, I guess because it was just forgotten. There is no possibility to add this funcitonality easily. SCS will have to do that.

It could be made that some other friendly platform (even weapon), which is controloed by doctrine programming language (which are the scripts i'm talking about, they are also used with mission editor and can be modified easily), would send you all airborne targets altitudes readings by radio. But tha't not very usefull.

Autocrew is not controled by doctrine language. Ship's interface could not be modified easily.
