how do these multiplayer campaigns work? is everyone on a server where you can see and interact with other players? or is it something where you play different campaign states in single player and upload the results of your missions?

It's multi-player, we all meet on Sat. night and run a mission that's been written by one of our members. At the end the big cahuna (Dagger) takes a screen shot of the results which will be posted on a web site later.
