i suppose it is impossible to create a new flotilla base?
i see the base numbers like 750, 752 and so on in the flotilla file, but i don't see any other file that lists those numbers - is it hardwired? i was wanting to create a new flotilla in the Pacific so that i could use the map grid numbers near the Pacific side of the Panama canal. Milk bases don't mesh well with the map grid score points. i wanted a new legal flotilla (fictional of course). something else - i tried to change the beginning Long and Lat in the flotilla file and nothing happened - i still spawned in the same dock in Kiel! its like those Long and Lat numbers are totally bogus! i was wanting to create a career where the Germans win WWII and continue to spread around the globe. As far as new flotilla bases that seems impossible. Am i right? :damn:

You can create a new sub base... or rather change the base a floatilla is assigned to.
The base codes, (751, 749, etc etc) are defined in the en_menu.txt (if i remember correctly) . This file is key to alot of things, as it assigns the ID numbers that many of the supporting game files use. Do a search in the file and look for the sub base. You should find a section that looks like (not exact, just an example) 749 = keil 750 = toulon etc etc So if you want to change a base all you do is - assign the base a number (you can use an unused number, as theres room for more bases) - Edit your foatilla.cfg to reflect the base number you want for whatever floatilla. - open the campaign.lnd layer in wordpad and search for your base , write down its lat and long - edit your flotialla .cfg to relfect the lat/long start position Thats about it. you can for example, make the 12 float start at Penang, or perhaps even the 1st or 7th out of La Rochelle. The only thing that i think is hardcoded to some degree is the number of flotialls, while you can change and create bases all you want, i dont think you can create additional flotillas. |
thank you for the info Ducimus!

Seawolves has added Salamis and Constanza for 23rd and 30th Flotillas to the new Med add on. I asked if they would consider adding Trondheim for Arctic operations and he told me the problem with changing bases is you can move and operational base which means(if I understood it right) the number of bases player can operate out of is hard coded so while you can change them you must lose one to gain one.
