New to the Type II where to go?

Rather enjoying my first patrol in a Type IIA but the limited range rules out most of my favorite Type VII hunting spots. So where do you like to take these little boats?

I usually go to the east coast of Britain at slow speed to save the fuel. I position myself between two ports and wait for the ships. Works everytime. :)

East of britatin

I always use ahead 1/3 when going from Kiel to the east coast of britain. The speed will get me there and back, so fuel has never (really) been a problem. It is the torpedos that are the problem. Only 5, what did they think of? And Im running sh3commander, and it seems that I wont get a VII until 41, that is 1.5 year from now. It gets a little annoying to only bag 2 big fishes in each patrol.

i pretty much always run at 1/3 speed or ahead slow except for when I'm trying to get ahead of a contact or expect air attack, but most my patrol area and nearby is awfull shallow & I'm used to staying in deeper water- makes me feel safer.

So far I've got a C2 and a coastal or small merchant, forget which. I still have 3 torpedoes left- was happy to get the C2 with one after using the aiming point recommended in the Wiki.
Last night I was trying to work my way toward Hartpool by following the deeper areas on the map but I've been attacked by Hurricanes a couple of times & afraid they'll radio in escorts or divert merchants in my area.

Should i spend most of the day submerged ? or stay outside the air coverage zone? head towards Scapa Flow ?

Well, any thoughts/ ideas appreciated!
