Loud Noise at beginning of mission
I created a multiplayer mission and everytime it loads into the game there is a loud screeching noise for a few seconds and then its fine.
How do I get rid of that noise. All players can hear it. =( |
I hate that sound :x
What audio card do you have?My card is a SoundBlaster Live The strange thing it's that i noticed the blasted sound in another game(Splinter Cell:Pandora Tomorrow)alwais published by Ubisoft Maybe something is related.... Maybe Starforce? I play alwais with my earphone and im sure that i have lost some of my hearing because of that damn sound. |
I have a soundblaster audigy gamer. There has to be a way of getting rid of it. :yep:
It blows my eardrums out :damn: I always warn everyone to turn down their sound lol. I tell all the players its sound of traveling back in time to ww2. LOL! |
If you have a sound editor, find this directory:
X:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Sound In there you will find 2 files named: Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_ext.wav Collision_AntiSubmarineNet_int.wav Open it with your sound editor, and reduce the decibels to a comfortable level and save. Voilà , no Starforce there eh!… |
So that sound is in there because I have an anti-submarine net in the mission?

Make a copy of those two sound files I told you about, and reduce the volume of the ones the game uses. You will at least know if those are the irritating sounds. If not, just delete the modified sound files and put back the originals. It is a 3-minute operation…well okay the freaking game takes forever to load so it’s a bit longer…:nope: If you do not have a sound editor, there is one on the net called Audacity. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ |
Actually its not the subnet that makes the noise, we always thought it was, bt its not. Its the actual PORT being spawned/rendered and as it does so it makes that horrible sound. It is the sound files listed above but why the hell it uses them as the Ports rendered I have no bloody idea. The only thing that springs to mind is a possible collision with the net as the harbour walls get rendered and pass through the net!
You can see this for your self in campain mode. Next time you load a game, enable the free camera. When your about 20-25Km away from a port on the map, take your camera over to the Port. When you get there you will find no port rendered. If you take the camera under water you will see that the sub net is there! As your sub closes on the port it will be suddenly rendered and as it does so that horrible noise will be heard. |
I did put it in there though. So i'm just gonna delete the anti-submarine nets.
The fix you provided works for me but I want a fix so that the players of my multiplayer mission don't have to hear it either. |

I wonder why i still have that sound...i've removed those file months ago.
And for me that sound happen not only in harbour but when i attack passenger liner, small and coastal merchant in open sea, almost alwais :-? But like i've said, that sound is not only in SH3 :hmm: Mmmm.... Could be Hardware...or could be software. |
I didn't remove the files physically. I just removed the anti-subnets from the mission I created.
