When you get sunk, does that actually end your career? Or is it safe to experiment with certain things that might get me killed, and then just reload my save? I'm hoping there is no auto-save feature when you die.

there is an autosave but no save overrites your old saves, so you can play 45 patrols and restart from your 12th patrol if you want to.

Of course, be careful with loading old saves, 'cause if you do go back and load up that 12th patrol, the game wipes out all your saved games after that so kiss patrols 13-45 goodbye :down:

Before you try going backwards like that it'd be a good idea to create a back-up copy of your saved games folder structure first (which is a good idea to do from time to time anyway).

Sorry...that sentence just struck me as funny. ;)

I got punked last night when i popped up in the middle of a convoy on a clear day. Tried for a couple of hours to avoid those damn destroyers but they kept finding me.

Back to 1939 :(

I wanted to know if they force you to start a new career or not Torplexed.

It depends on what kind of game you want to play....

If you want to play realistic then when you get sunk thats it,end of story,dead is dead and you wipe out your old career and start a new one.

If you play more of an arcade game then you simply reload an old save game from that career and start over from that point using the existing career.

i think it also depends on if you are patched or not.

When i wasn't patched it forced the career to end. Now that i am patched i have the option to go back. To me it's dead is dead so i will start over from the beginning. I like the idea of seeing how far i can get before they get me. I will miss the West Coast of England :D
